A helicopter hovering over a well-attended California coastline abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, finally dropping height and plunging into a cluster of palm fronds as spectators watched.
Footage posted on social media show the helicopter commencing to spiral over the shoreline then descending near the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged between palm trees and a set of stairs near the shoreline route.
Emergency responders said five persons were rushed to the hospital including a pair who were in the helicopter and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” subsequent to the crash on Saturday.
Three persons on the road were hurt. Specifics on their injuries were still under review.
The cause of the crash was not immediately released.
Officials indicated the chopper was linked to an regular “Cars with Copters” fundraising event planned for the next day.
