The former director's attorney filed the plea acting as his counsel in a federal court in the Virginia city of Alexandria on mid-week.

The former director was formally accused soon after Trump pushed his chief prosecutor to move forward against him.

Judicial Process

In court on mid-week, his attorney Patrick Fitzgerald told the court they intended to present multiple motions to throw out the proceedings before a court case, stating the legal action was retaliatory and that a federal prosecutor was wrongfully assigned to handle the proceedings.

They allege he provided false information to the Senate by stating he had not approved a person at the FBI to leak to journalistic entities data about the government examinations.

Government lawyers also accuse James Comey of "improperly attempting to influence, obstruct and impede" the committee by providing untrue information to it.
